The Breakfast Club (1985)
Claire Standish, Andrew Clark, John Bender, Brian Johnson, and Allison Reynolds are classmates at Shermer High School in Shermer, Illinois, but other than that, they don’t interact much in school (with the exception of Claire and Andrew). In the simplest words and according to their own definitions, Claire is a princess, Andrew is a sportsman, John is a felon, Brian is smart, and Allison is a hot mess. They did, however, participate in a nine-hour detention on Saturday, March 24, 1984, in the school library, which Richard Vernon oversaw from his office across the hall.
Each is expected to write a minimum of a 1,000-word essay about themselves within that period. If they were really going to compose that essay over those nine hours, each one would presumably start by expressing what they believe about themselves and how the rest of the world perceives them. However, based on their experiences over the course of that nine hours, they might have a different perspective about themselves and the other four.
